Every Kia on sale in South Africa right now – and which ones are due for an update

There is only one Kia on sale in South Africa right now that is more than three years old.

The South Korean automaker makes regular updates to its selection of local models, ensuring that its offerings are able to compete in our densely-packed market.

The oldest vehicle in the current stable is the Pegas – one of the last affordable sedans left on the market in South Africa

It was launched in 2021, and the company has thus far made no indication that it will be updated, meaning that it may disappear from showrooms in the not-too-distant future.

While unfortunate, it would also not come as a surprise given that sedans have seen rapidly declining interest over the last few years.

The good news, however, is that Kia has plenty in store for its other models this year.

This includes the Carnival MPV and Sorento SUV, which were both launched in 2022 and are set to receive a facelift in 2025 with new visuals and extra equipment.

It also plans to launch two new cars this year called the Tasman and Carens.

The Tasman is an all-new midsize double-cab bakkie that will compete alongside favourites like the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger, while the Carens is a people carrier built on the same platform as the Seltos, making it a more affordable alternative to the Carnival.

Other vehicles in the Kia brochure received notable changes in 2024, such as the Sonet, Seltos, and Picanto, and the Sportage was updated in 2023 with more safety features, a new diesel engine, and a reshuffling of its roster.

Below is a list of every Kia on sale in South Africa, including the last time the vehicle was updated.

This does not include additional models built on the same platform that were introduced at a later date, such as the Sportage CRDi or the Sonet LS.
