New Ford Tourneo Custom goes on sale in South Africa – Pricing and features
Ford has officially added two new models to the Tourneo Custom series in South Africa.
The next-gen people mover made its official debut in 2024 with a single model – the Trend – which was followed up by the entry-level Active earlier this year.
Now, the automaker has elected to launch two new options for the Tourneo known as the Sport and the Titanium X, showcasing all of the latest technology that the Blue Oval has to offer.
Prices for the new units start at R1,218,000, meaning they come at a R113,500 premium over the mid-range Trend.
Engine
The Sport and Titanium X are powered by an uprated version of the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine found on the existing Tourneo units.
This means that the newcomers have a total output of 125kW and 390Nm, compared to the 100kW and 360Nm produced by the Active and Trend.
Every model in the series is front-wheel-drive, and features an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Despite the increase in power, the Sport and Titanium have the same average fuel consumption of 7.4l/100km.
The other major difference between the new and existing units is that the former are short-wheelbase (SWB) models, while the latter have a long wheelbase (LWB).
The SWB units are 5,050mm in length with a wheelbase measuring 3,100mm, whereas the LWD models are 5,450mm long with a wheelbase of 3,500mm.
The SWB Sport and Titanium are meant to offer a more athletic driving experience while retaining the practicality of the other units, as they still have eight seats despite their more compact nature.
Drivers can take advantage of this design thanks to the inclusion of several driving modes comprising Normal, Eco, Slippery, Tow/Haul, and Sport.
Features

Starting with the Tourneo Sport, the people mover’s appearance has been enhanced with the addition of a new body kit.
This includes a honeycomb-style grille, a full body-colour front bumper, a sporty rear spoiler, and 17-inch alloy wheels, which can be optionally upgraded to 19-inch rims.
The body has also been given bold dual black and blue sport stripes that run from the front bumper all the way to the rear door, and a pair of side decals that run towards the LED taillamps.
The colour scheme extends to the interior, where the seats are decked out in partial leather upholstery with blue accent stripes.
It has a leather multifunction steering wheel, and the centre console has a piano-black finish, which helps to frame the 13-inch Sync 4 infotainment screen.
The touchscreen supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and connects to a 10-speaker sound system.
Buyers can also install the optional Mobile Office package, which adds a stowable accessory tray table, enhanced cabin lighting, a laptop or tablet storage compartment between the seats, additional USB ports, an AMPS accessory docking slot, and a convenient integrated rubbish bin.
On top of this, the Tourneo Sport Custom comes standard with a driver assistance suite, which offers adaptive cruise control, front and reverse parking sensors, a rear camera, reverse brake assist, collision mitigation, and blind spot detection.
The flagship Titanium X adds even more equipment, including Matrix LED headlights and a set of multi-spoke 19-inch alloy rims.
It also has an electronically-adjustable front passenger seat (driver’s seat is electric on both models) and the powered side doors gain a Close Assist function.
The second-row seats are heated, and the rearview camera has been upgraded to provide a 360-degree field of view.
Customers can further enhance the experience with the optional Luxe package, which adds a near-full-length panoramic roof, ambient lighting, and a 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo.
