New Opel Mokka launched in South Africa – Pricing and features
Opel has officially updated the Mokka crossover for South Africa.
The Mokka is the brand’s entry-level SUV, slotting below the recently introduced Grandland.
The revised model has been given a facelift to match the look of its upmarket sibling, showcasing the brand’s latest visual language.
The Mokka is now on sale in two specifications, with prices starting at R519,900.
Features
The new crossover sports an updated front and rear bumper, which were redesigned to provide better aerodynamics.
The Eco LED headlights have been upgraded with new ‘magnifying glass,’ which allows them to illuminate the road in a similar fashion to the advanced Matrix Intelli-Lux LED headlights used by the brand’s more expensive cars.
The base model, which is now called the Edition rather than the Elegance, has a set of 17-inch alloy wheels, while the top-spec GS Line has larger 18-inch rims.
Both versions have a sleek shark fin antenna, and the GS Line has a two-tone diamond black roof.
The Mokka’s front end showcases the brand’s latest “Vizor” design, combining the grille, LED headlights, daytime running lights, and logo into a single element.
At the back, you’ll find the model name in the centre of the tailgate.
Attention has also been given to the interior, which is decked out with Opel’s latest Pure Panel system, consisting of a digital driver display and a large infotainment screen.
Most vehicle functions are accessed via the touchscreen, though the manufacturer has kept a handful of physical buttons for things like the climate control, meaning you don’t have to jump through menus for every action.
It also features an updated centre console with a wireless charging pad, and a large multifunction steering wheel.
Leather upholstery is standard on the GS Line, too.
Both cars have cruise control, parking sensors, and a rearview camera, but the GS Line features an expanded driver aid suite with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control with a Stop & Go function.
Engine

Since it is a facelift and not a new generation, the Mokka has retained its 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
This develops a total of 96kW and 230Nm, which is transmitted to the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
As a result, the crossover achieves an average fuel consumption of 6.1l/00km, giving it a range of 721km on its 44-litre tank.
Pricing
The South African pricing for the new Opel Mokka is as follows:
- Opel Mokka 1.2T Edition – R519,900
- Opel Mokka 1.2T GS Line – R564,900
This includes a 5-year/100,000km warranty and roadside assistance plan, as well as a 3-year/60,000km service plan.
