You can now buy a Corvette Stingray in South Africa

Factory-built right-hand-drive Corvette Stingray models are now available to purchase in South Africa.

The vehicle is being brought into the country exclusively by CVH Auto Group, which is also the official South African distributor for Maserati in the country.

Corvette’s Stingray is an iconic American performance vehicle that comes in convertible and coupe models, both of which will be available in South Africa.

These vehicles have been certified as meeting South Africa’s road regulations, and are official right-hand drive production models.

Interestingly, the Corvette Stingray is the only vehicle that General Motors assembles as a right-hand drive vehicle.

All other General Motors right-hand drive vehicles have instead been assembled as left-hand drive vehicles first, and then converted after the fact.

Specifications

The Corvette Stingray is fitted with a monstrous 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 petrol engine, which develops an impressive 369kW and 637Nm.

The engine is located behind the seats – a decision that is meant to put more power into the rear wheels.

Thanks to this design decision, as well as the vehicle’s impressive power and aerodynamic design, the Corvette Stingray can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.5 seconds.

Furthermore, the Corvette Stingray will come standard in South Africa with the Z51 Performance Package. This package is focused on making the car perform better when driving on a track.

The group said it is also be bringing the more aggressive Corvette Z06 to the South African market.

The Corvette Stingray is priced from R3.7 million and is now available at CVH Auto Group’s Bryanston showroom.

According to the group, trade-ins are welcome, finance and insurance are available, and service plans and warranties are included.
