Best-selling bakkies in South Africa

South Africa’s demand for bakkies is not slowing down anytime soon, if the sales numbers for September 2025 are anything to go by.

The Toyota Hilux remains unchallenged at the top of the charts with 3,639 units, making it the most popular vehicle in the country.

Second place went to the Ford Ranger, which managed to sell an impressive 2,270 units.

This was closely followed by the Isuzu D-Max in third, which also managed to sell just over 2k units with 2,054 purchases.

In contrast, the fourth best-selling bakkie turned out to be the Mahindra Pik Up with 750 customers, while fifth place went to the GWM P-Series with 458 units.

The Toyota Land Cruiser 79 moved 392 examples, putting it in sixth place just ahead of the VW Amarok in seventh with 382 sales.

Nissan took the next spot thanks to 337 Navara sales, and two Chinese entries closed out the top 10.

Foton sold 232 Tunland G7 models, and JAC parted with a total of 195 T-Series units.

Overall, the top 10 bakkies sold a combined 10,709 units, accounting for 19.57% of the 54,700 vehicles sold in South Africa last month.
