New Jetour T1 launched in South Africa – Pricing and features
Jetour has finally debuted the new T-series in South Africa.
The T-badged SUVs, comprising the T1 and its big brother, the T2, mark the brand’s foray into the world of 4x4s – a stark contrast from the urban-focused Dashing and X70 Plus.
Both cars made an appearance at a media event in Cape Town this weekend, and sales are scheduled to begin in mid-November.
“Since Jetour first entered the South African market last year, there’s been incredible anticipation for the T-Series,” said Jetour South Africa Vice President Nic Campbell.
“We’re thrilled to be launching both the T1 and T2 simultaneously today, a move that we believe will change the way people experience SUVs in South Africa.”
The two vehicles share a unibody platform and engine selection, with the main differences coming down to their size and styling.
As you’d expect, the T1 is the smaller of the two, and prices start at R514,900.
Engine

The T1 is available in four specifications – the Edge, Aspire, Xplora, and Odyssey.
Kicking things off are the Edge and Aspire, which are fitted with a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine.
This provides a total of 125kW and 270Nm, which is transmitted to the front wheels.
The Xplora and Odyssey, meanwhile, are sold with a more powerful 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol block good for 180kW and 375Nm.
These units also have an XWD Intelligent four-wheel-drive (4WD) system, in contrast to the front-wheel-drive setup used by the other two.
Furthermore, the 4WD units have eight driving modes, including settings for Sport, Snow, Mud, Sand, and “X-mode.”
Regardless of which version you opt for, the T1 will use a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Features
The T1 is smaller than the T2, though the difference is surprisingly small:
| Dimension | Jetour T1 | Jetour T2 |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 4,705mm | 4,785mm |
| Width | 1,967mm | 2,006mm |
| Height | 1,843mm | 1,880mm |
| Wheelbase | 2,810mm | 2,800mm |
| Ground clearance | 200mm | 220mm |
Jetour describes the T1 as the “compact and versatile model designed for city streets and beyond” though both vehicles are obviously capable of going off-road.
Unfortunately, the automaker has yet to provide an in-depth breakdown of each trim level’s equipment beyond sharing a few highlights.
This includes a 540-degree panoramic camera, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring, 19-inch alloy wheels, and LEDs for the automatic headlights, daytime running lights, front fog lights and taillights.
It also has auto-folding heated side mirrors, roof racks, and privacy glass for the rear windows.
The cabin is insulated with dual-layer soundproof glass, and the high-end models have a 15.6-inch infotainment screen and a 9-speaker Sony stereo.
