Toyota Rumion updated for South Africa – Pricing and features

Toyota has updated the Rumion multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) for South Africa.

The seven-seater has received a variety of enhancements, from styling tweaks to new features and expanded safety fittings.

“Toyota South Africa Motors is excited to introduce the latest round of updates to one of its most loved people movers, the Toyota Rumion.”

“The 2025 model brings meaningful improvements in safety, convenience and styling, making it an even stronger contender for families and commuters who value space, comfort and efficiency.”

The Rumion is now available in five specifications, and prices start at R307,900.

Features

Toyota has made changes to the Rumion’s dimensions, as the roof has been extended by 120mm while the pillars are 22mm wider and the rear overhang has grown by 40mm.

The people carrier has also been given a new rear bumper with redesigned combination lamps, and the new roof-end spoiler and roof-side spoiler are now standard across the range.

This is in addition to the new black mesh grille added in a previous update.

As far as safety is concerned, the Japanese automaker has equipped all models with side and curtain airbags, and the third row now benefits from three headrests instead of two.

Additionally, the second-row centre seatbelt has been upgraded to a full three-point configuration.

The SX trim level now comes with a USB Type-C charging port in the second row, and the top-end TX has ports for both the second and third rows.

Engine

The Rumion series is fitted with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which develops 77kW and 138Nm.

Customers have a choice of either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic gearbox, which sends power to the front wheels.

Regardless of the transmission used, the MPV achieves an average fuel consumption of 6.2l/100km.

Pricing

The South African pricing for the updated Toyota Rumion is as follows:

This includes a 3-year/100,000km warranty and a 4-service/60,000km service plan.
