New Chery Tiggo 7 launched in South Africa – Pricing and features

Chery has added a new model to the Tiggo 7 family in South Africa.

The new option, the Executive, is one of the more affordable members of the Tiggo 7 family, clocking in at R459,900.

This makes it the second cheapest model after the entry-level Prime, which costs R429,900.

For this price, buyers can expect a range of additional features over the Prime, including seven airbags and advanced driver assistance systems.

“Developed in response to customer feedback and growing expectations around comfort, convenience and in-car technology, the Executive adds a substantial list of upgrades while retaining the design and drivetrain that have made the Tiggo 7 range popular with local buyers,” said the company.

Engine

The Executive uses the same engine as the Prime, which takes the form of a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol block with 108kW and 210Nm.

This is paired with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which sends power down to the front wheels.

As a result, the Chinese SUV achieves an average fuel consumption of 6.9l/100km.

Features

Chery stated that the Executive is positioned as a more luxurious alternative to the Prime with a stronger emphasis on everyday usability and occupant comfort.

This version of the Tiggo 7 comes with seven airbags, including full-length side curtain airbags and a front centre airbag.

It also introduces a driver assistance suite with lane departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot detection, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning and autonomous emergency braking.

Additionally, the camera has been upgraded to a surround-view with an underbody visual function.

Other new features include a  power-operated panoramic sunroof, a power tailgate, synthetic leather upholstery and a 50 W wireless smartphone charger.

Both front seats are now electronically adjustable with heating and ventilation functions.

This is all in addition to the kit already found on the Prime, such as a dual 12.3-inch infotainment and driver display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic air conditioning, and six speakers.

It also has 18-inch alloy wheels and LED headlights.
