New Renault Duster launched in South Africa – Pricing and features

Renault has officially launched the new-gen Duster in South Africa, built on a modular platform designed for motorists looking for an affordable Adventure SUV experience.

The French carmaker’s local division has confirmed the lineup for the new vehicle, comprising five derivatives priced from R339,999 to R499,999.

“The new Renault Duster represents a significant step forward for our SUV portfolio. It remains true to the authentic spirit that South Africans have come to love, while delivering the technology, comfort, safety and design expected by today’s increasingly discerning customers,” said Renault South Africa Chief Executive Officer, Shumani Tshifularo.

“The new Duster empowers customers to ‘explore again’, exploring more of life confidently and more comfortably than ever before.”

Engines

The new Duster is offered with one of two engines, starting with a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol plant that generates 74kW, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox.

Alternatively, buyers can opt for a more potent 1.3-litre turbo-petrol block with 116kW and 260Nm, which is available with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed EDC automatic gearbox.

The EDC uses an e-shifter and even includes paddle shifters on the steering wheel for greater control, depending on the derivative.

Ground clearance clocks in at 212mm, and the Renault’s suspension has been set up for comfort and durability, making it well suited to a variety of South African road conditions.

Features

The compact SUV has adopted Renault’s new design language with a distinctive front grille that features the DUSTER nameplate.

It also has more muscular body proportions, front and rear skid plates, LED headlights, a rear light bar, and 18-inch alloy wheels, though the latter depends on the trim level.

Inside, the cabin features a driver-centric cockpit with a dual OpenR Link display, comprised of a 10.1-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

The centre console has been elevated, and the interior uses premium material finishes, according to the company.

Higher trim levels include functions like electronically adjustable front seats with ventilation, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, a wireless charger, and an electric tailgate.

The boot has a capacity of 518 litres, which can be expanded to 1,789 litres when the rear seats are folded.

All derivatives come standard with six airbags, electronic stability control, hill start assist, tyre pressure monitoring, and a rearview camera.
