The pricing for the new Lepas L6 has been uncovered ahead of its imminent launch in South Africa.
Lepas is a new Chinese car brand under the Chery Group, which made its local debut in March 2026 with its first vehicle, the entry-level L4 crossover.
The new L6 is the brand’s mid-range SUV, slotting between the L4 and the upcoming L8, the latter of which will serve as Lepas’s flagship vehicle.
Thanks to our trusty sources at Duoporta Vehicle Information Specialists, we can now report that the L6 will be offered in two specifications, with prices starting at R479,900.
What to expect
Both versions of the L6, the Javan and Pantera, are equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol that generates 108kW and 225Nm.
This is the same amount of power found in Chery’s equivalent vehicles, the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 7 Pro, which also have a 1.5-litre turbo, though the Lepas has slightly more torque compared to the others’ 210Nm.
However, it is less powerful than the Jetour Dashing and X70 Plus, which develop 125kW and 270Nm.
Gear shifts are handled by a six-speed dual-clutch automatic shifter, which sends power to the front wheels. The result is an average fuel consumption of 7.2l/100km.
The L6’s full spec sheet will be confirmed at launch, but according to our early information, the base Javan will come standard with 19-inch alloy wheels, a space-saver spare wheel, silver roof rails, rain-sensing wipers, automatic LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, and an electric tailgate.
It also comes with keyless entry and start, automatic climate control, a faux leather multifunction steering wheel, faux leather upholstery, electric front seats, four USB ports, a panoramic sunroof, a digital instrument cluster, and a 13.2-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Additionally, the SUV has assistance and safety functions comprising tyre pressure monitoring, hill start assist, hill descent control, six airbags, lane change assist, blind spot detection, front and rear parking sensors, cruise control, and a 360-degree camera.
The range-topping Pantera will then add an extra airbag (seven in total), lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, memory settings for the driver’s seat, and heated and ventilated front seats.

Each vehicle is sold with a 5-year/150,000km warranty and a 5-year/75,000km service plan. It also includes a 10-year/1-million-kilometre engine warranty valid for the first owner.
