Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio – What it competes against at R1.6 million

The Alfa Romeo Giulia was updated in August for the brand’s 111th anniversary, and the range-topping Quadrifoglio model now comes in at R1.6 million.

The output and design of the new Giulia remain unchanged when compared to the outgoing model, but its features list was generously updated as part of the refresh.

The top-end Giulia Quadrifoglio features an Alcantara-clad cabin with a substantial addition of carbon fibre and leather inserts; and an 8.8-inch infotainment display that offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Additionally, every Giulia receives keyless entry, a wireless charging pad, eight-way electrically-adjustable front seats, and rear-seat USB ports.

A new driver assistance pack comprising high-beam assist, active blind spot assist, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking with forward collision warning, and driver attention alert is then available as an optional extra.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia scores a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating, too.

Additional updates include an Alfalink rear suspension system that consists of a semi-virtual steering axis and a four-and-a-half link configuration which is “rigid when cornering, but also longitudinally flexible”.

Output from its 2.9-litre, V6, bi-turbo engine is then rated at 375kW and 600Nm, while power is delivered to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The market

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio’s R1.6-million price tag puts it in competition against the likes of the BMW M3 and Mercedes-AMG C63.
