There are many cars from reputable brands that can be bought in South Africa at around the R500,000 mark.

The popular SUV body style is plentiful, and so is the hatchback.

Lifestyle-oriented bakkies are a bit harder to find, but you’ll be glad to hear that Ford, GWM, Isuzu, Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Toyota have examples on offer in this price bracket.

When it comes to sedans, however, the affordable side of the market does not have that many options – with one Honda, one Subaru, and one Toyota featured on this list.
