Special-edition Ford EcoSport Active – South African pricing listed

The Ford EcoSport Active is nearly upon us and is set to launch by the end of the month.

The special-edition crossover’s pricing has already been listed, coming in at R393,700.

This places the Active above the Trend as a more premium offering in the crossover line-up, but it’s still priced lower than the top-end Titanium models.

This is what you can expect from the new EcoSport that is going on sale soon.

Performance

The newest entry in Ford’s EcoSport series uses a 1.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine that connects to a six-speed automatic transmission to drive the front wheels.

Altogether, this gives the Active an output of 92kW and 170Nm, as well as a combined fuel consumption of 6.3l/100km.

This model also clears 100km/h in 12.7 seconds while the top speed is pegged at 181km/h.

Additionally, the Active is capable of towing a maximum load of 900kg and has a ground clearance of 206mm – which gives it an impressive water wading depth of up to 550mm.

Features

The exterior is where the Active most notably differentiates itself from its siblings, with new black-clad wheel arches, a black roof, a unique black grille, model-specific 17-inch wheels, and no spare wheel on the rear tailgate.

The model is also equipped with LED daytime running lights, front fog lamps, and black roof rails.

The Active’s interior is then expected to sport a mix of leather/cloth upholstery, model-specific seats, a multifunction steering wheel, cruise control, rear park-distance control, and seven airbags – similar to the EcoSport Active models sold in Europe.

The Active will also come with a touch-screen infotainment system that supports FordPass Connect, which will allow owners to pre-heat or cool the cabin, check fuel levels, and control the car’s central locking via a phone companion app.

Furthermore, the crossover offers a cargo capacity of up to 333 litres, which can be extended to 705 litres with the rear bench folded down.

It must be noted that Ford South Africa has not yet confirmed all the local features and specifications of the new EcoSport Active.
