JAC launches 4-tonne electric truck in South Africa – Pricing and specifications

JAC has launched the four-tonne N75 battery-electric truck in South Africa at a starting price of R999,131 excl. VAT. 

The introduction of the N75 follows “substantial interest from local transport operators” for the smaller N55 that debuted in the country last year, said JAC.

N75 specifications

The electric N75 EV is equipped with a 65kW electric motor with a peak power output of 130kW, with a constant 415Nm of torque which can momentarily be increased to 1,200Nm.

Powered by a 106.95kWh battery, the truck accelerates from 0-50km/h in 8 seconds, reaches a top speed of 90km/h, scales a maximum incline of 16.7 degrees, and achieves 200km of driving per charge.

On a DC fast charger with a CCS2-Combo connector, the module is refilled in approximately two hours which, when compared to an equivalent diesel truck, saves “50% on fuel/energy costs,” said JAC.

Thanks to its battery-powered drivetrain, maintenance costs are also 70% lower than with a diesel model according to the manufacturer

The N75’s load bed is then capable of carrying cargo of up to 5-metres in length and up to 4,050kg in heft.

The wide cabin makes space for a driver and two passengers and is equipped with a reverse warning buzzer, a reverse camera, rear parking sensors, an air-conditioner, electric windows, a multifunction steering wheel, a pedestrian warning system, and an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth and built-in navigation.

Additionally, the battery-driven N75 features ABS with an advanced emergency braking system, acceleration slip regulation, electronic stability control, and hill-start assist.

The South African pricing for the JAC N75 range is as follows:

• JAC N75 3.8L 6-tonne C/C – R499,914 excl. VAT
• JAC N75 3.8L 6-tonne D/S – R517,305 excl. VAT
• JAC N75 EV 4-tonne C/C – R999,131 excl. VAT

The N75 diesel models are sold with a 2-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty whereas the battery-electric version gets a 3-year/100,000km mechanical warranty and a 5-year/100,000km battery warranty.
