Mazda has updated its car pricing for 2023 with all the new prices taking effect from 1 January.
The Japanese manufacturer now sells a total of six models in the local market, comprising one bakkie, two hatchbacks, and three SUVs – with a combined 32 specifications on offer over the respective ranges.
The local line-up will also be bolstered by another SUV during the first half of this year, the CX-60.
The CX-60 will become the flagship model in Mazda’s South African range as it’s the first plug-in hybrid and most powerful road car the brand has ever produced, capable of generating 221kW and 500Nm thanks to the combination of a 2.5-litre petrol engine and 100kW electric motor.
Going forward, the automaker will focus heavily on SUVs as from 2022 onwards, it plans to launch five models under the CX banner all in varying sizes of the practical body style. This includes the CX-50, the aforementioned CX-60, the wide-body CX-70, the seven-seater CX-80, and the wide-body seven-seater CX-90.
Currently, it’s confirmed that the CX-50 will not be launched in our borders whereas the CX-60 will, but there has been no word from Mazda South Africa about the rest of the vehicles.
The table below shows the upcoming SUVs that the manufacturer will launch from 2022 onwards in global markets.
