Every brand in South Africa with at least one hybrid car

It was a rollercoaster of a year for fuel prices in 2022, with the cost of petrol skyrocketing to a ludicrous all-time high of R26.74 per litre in July.

While prices have since come down, the cost of petrol is expected to remain high for the foreseeable future with a potential fuel tax hike on the horizon.

This means limiting the amount of fuel you use on a daily basis will be more critical than ever to cut down on monthly expenses, and one of the best ways to achieve this is to purchase a hybrid vehicle.

Hybrid cars make use of an additional electric motor to alleviate a portion of the fuel-burning engine’s workload resulting in a considerable drop in fuel consumption, and the more expensive plug-in hybrids even allow the user to drive entirely on electric power for short distances.

There are currently 14 different car brands in South Africa that offer a hybridised auto, and this list will soon be bolstered by brands like Suzuki and JAC which are bringing their own semi-electric models to the market in 2023.
