New entry-level BMW i4 South African pricing listed

BMW has listed the South African pricing of the i4 eDrive35, the new entry-level model in the electric gran-coupe range.

The eDrive35 is only available in M Sport grade and comes in at a starting price of R1,293,300 which includes the usual 2-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, 5-year/100,000km maintenance plan, and 8-year/100,000km battery warranty.

Entry-level i4 specifications

The new battery-powered i4 drives the rear wheels only with a single electric motor developing 210kW and 400Nm. With this setup, the eDrive35 claims 0-100km/h in 6 seconds flat while topping out at 190km/h.

Supported by a battery with a usable portion of 67kWh, the electric BMW provides up to 483km of range on a single charge and it can replenish the battery from 10% to 80% in 32 minutes when plugged into a 180kW outlet.

If you have the 11kW wallbox installed at home, the module is rechargeable from 0-100% in seven hours.

Thanks to the M Sport package, the base i4 wears athletic exterior fittings such as large black air inlets on the front fascia, a diffuser-look rear bumper, aerodynamic side vents and sills, M-specific badging, and 18-inch bicolour alloys.

Cosmetic enhancements extend into the cabin in the form of Vernasca leather Sports seats, the M leather multifunction steering wheel, trim finishers in Aluminium Tetragon, M door sills, and M pedals.

More equipment included in the purchase price are automatic LED headlights with high-beam assist, ambient lighting, three-zone climate control, cruise control with brake function, as well as the parking assist plus package that can “park your car for you and drive it back out of your parking space,” said BMW.

The BMW Live Cockpit Plus widescreen display is standard, too, bringing a 12.3-inch driver’s display and 14.9-inch infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, voice control, and maps integration.

Additional extras available to buyers of the eDrive 35 comprise the M Sport package Pro at R24,500, the Deluxe Package 2.0 at R37,700, and the M Carbon exterior package at R83,600.
