The Toyota Corolla Cross has once again achieved the rank of South Africa’s best-selling SUV with 1,281 sales in April.
While this is a notable step down from the 1,839 units sold in March, it is nonetheless an impressive achievement as the Cross still managed a lead of 500 units over the runner-up.
The runner-up in question is the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro, whose 708 sales illustrate how popular the brand has become in a relatively short space of time in South Africa.
Third place was taken by another Toyota – namely the recently-updated Fortuner which had 695 units finding new homes last month.
Fourth place, on the other hand, went to another Chinese brand with the Haval Jolion securing 677 new customers in April.
The final model to make it into the top five – the Renault Kiger – sold 625 units and is the most affordable of the top contenders with its starting price of R225,000.
Other vehicles to make it into the top 10 include the VW T-Cross, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Haval H6, and Hyundai Venue, which all managed to sell over 300 units.
In total, the top 10 crossovers and SUVs represent 6,048 of the 37,107 cars purchased in the country in April – roughly 16.67%.

Brands that do not disclose individual model sales, such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz, were not included.
