38 new cars launching in South Africa before 2025

Motorists who thought 2024 was rather slim on new car launches can rest easy, as there are at least 38 new models still expected to launch before 2025.

It’s already been a great year for car enthusiasts, as we’ve received several new entries from popular brands like Toyota and VW, including the Starlet Cross, Prado, T-Cross, and Tiguan.

A number of Chinese automakers have also entered the market this year, such as Foton, GAC, and Jetour, all of which have additional models lined up for an introduction in 2025.

As for the last three months of 2024, the roster includes three new electric vehicles (BEVs) as well as three plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) from Abarth, Fiat, Chery, and JAC.

Audi fans can look forward to the new A3, while BMW has saved the majority of its big names for this last stretch, such as the 1 Series, M3, and the locally-made X3.

Bakkie enthusiasts can expect more options from JAC, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Jeep, Peugeot, and VW ranging from a new engine to a single-cab workhorse to an all-new generation.

On the affordable end of the spectrum, Chery has another SUV lined up simply badged the Cross, while Citroen is expanding its C3 Aircross series and Suzuki is finalizing the launch of the next-generation Swift.

The off-road SUV scene is awaiting the new Renault Duster, as well as the LDV D90 and the new Land Rover Defender flagship.

A jam-packed end to the year

These are all of the cars that are expected to launch in South Africa before 2025, bearing in mind that certain models could be delayed without notice.
