Best-selling bakkies in South Africa

October was a great month for new-car sales in South Africa, though bakkie transactions were marginally down for a few of the top performers.

Nonetheless, the Toyota Hilux still had a good turnout with 2,793 units to secure the top spot, even if this is less than the 2,942 it managed in September.

Things were much the same for the Ford Ranger, which dropped from 2,382 to 2,217 sales, however, this is still a sizeable lead over the rest of the competition.

Isuzu, meanwhile, actually managed to buck the trend by improving on its numbers, going from 1,592 to 1,807 registrations last month.

The remainder of the brands were pretty consistent in terms of their placement and sales figures, as there were no shake-ups in the top 10 ranking with the exception of the final slot.

The Manindra Pik Up is still in fourth place with 709 units moved, followed by the Nissan Navara with 418 purchases.

The GWM P-Series and VW Amarok are still seeing decent interest with 358 and 298 customers secured, respectively, and the Toyota Land Cruiser 79 and GWM Steed 5 finished eighth and ninth with 128 and 116 models finding buyers.

The one big change is that the Nissan NP200 has finally dropped off the radar now that supplies are running dry, which means the Mahindra Bolero could break into the top 10 with its 37 examples sold.
