The three-row crossover can be yours for a palatable R371,900, but it’s not the only attainable seven-seater SUV on the market.
In fact, the Citroen is just one of five options under R500,000 that fit this description.
Close behind the French crossover is the Japanese Honda BR-V, which asks buyers R409,000.
These are the only seven-seaters that can really be considered crossovers, as the remaining offerings are significantly bigger and in most cases noticeably more powerful.
Case in point, the next entry is the Jetour X70 Plus which retails for R454,900, and is at least 60mm larger than the Honda in each dimension while offering 26kW and 85Nm more grunt.
Following the Jetour is the Mahindra Scorpio-N Adventure SUV which is the only ladder-frame-based model on the list.
It goes for R489,999 and should be the first pick for anyone looking to do more serious off-roading in their affordable seven-seater SUV.
Finally, there’s the sizeable Proton X90 which comes in just R100 shy of half a million rand.
It’s worth mentioning that Hyundai used to offer the seven-seater Grand Creta for a relatively affordable price, too.
However, this model was recently removed from the proverbial shelves to make space for the upcoming Alcazar.
The Alcazar is simply a facelifted version of the Grand Creta which is scheduled to appear in showrooms in early May.
