20 best-selling cars in South Africa

The best-selling vehicle in South Africa in September was the Toyota Hilux, with over 2,600 units sold in the month.

This is according to sales data from Naamsa.

The Toyota bakkie was closely followed by the VW Polo in local sales figures, with the two brands combined accounting for nine vehicles out of the top 20 best-selling cars in the country.

The 11 remaining vehicles were split between eight manufacturers.

Best-selling cars

Despite local sales for the Toyota Hilux being around 700 units less for September than in August 2021, it remains the undisputed leader in sales in the country.

The VW Polo is as popular as ever with around 150 more units sold in September than August, and it remains in second place.

Third place was taken by a new competitor, the Toyota Urban Cruiser, which more than doubled its sales figures from August.

The Ford Ranger moved from fifth place to eighth place, too, while several vehicles such as the Nissan Magnite, VW Tiguan, and VW T-Cross are no longer part of the top 20 best-sellers.
