Best-selling hatchbacks and sedans in South Africa

Budget-focused brands rule the market when its comes to the top 10 best-selling hatchbacks and sedans in the country during November 2021.

Many of the most affordable vehicles in the country fall in these categories, such as the Suzuki S-Presso hatchback and Honda Amaze sedan.

VW’s Polo range remains a popular choice among local buyers, with two variants taking first and third place for best-selling hatchback – while the Polo sedan took first spot for best-selling sedan in November.

The Toyota Starlet also performed well, taking second place in the hatch category. It sold 1,416 units more than the Suzuki Baleno, the car it is based on.

Toyota also featured prominently in the sedan category, scoring second and seventh with two versions of its Corolla.

Top 10

The best-selling hatchbacks and sedans in South Africa are detailed below, ranked by Naamsa’s new vehicle sales figures for November.

Mercedes-Benz and BMW’s sedans and hatches were not included in the comparison as these manufacturers do not report model-specific sales.

For reference, BMW sold an estimated total of 635 units in November – with Mercedes-Benz’s sales totaling 454 units.
