Pre-owned “4x4s” under R100,000 – What’s on offer

For under R100,000, you will find a wide variety of off-roaders on the pre-owned market – varying from “not-bad” to “better-than-expected” models.

The four-wheel-drive cars on offer in this price bracket are not exactly what you would call modern, however, with the newest option we found from 2001.

Despite the substantial age of these vehicles, most of them are in a seemingly 4×4-capable state.

The options

The iconic first-generation Suzuki Vitara is available in an excellent refurbished condition, while a 2001 Jeep “TJ” generation is also on offer.

Additionally, a quirky Suzuki SJ410 is listed with only 33,400km put on its original 1.0-litre engine in the past 37 years.

This “king of the beach” comes with a removable hard-top roof and a front tow hook for launching seafaring vessels, with white wheels and a yellow paint job adding to its allure.

Another compact SUV from the 1990s is available in the form of a first-generation Toyota RAV4.

While the plastic bumpers of this Toyota might look like they’ve seen lots of sunny days on sandy dunes, the rest of it looks ready to enjoy many more.

Listed below are the “4x4s” we found on the pre-owned market for under R100,000.
