Upcoming electric bakkies – Capabilities comparison

There are many electric bakkies on the horizon, with promises of exceptional performance in every category being made.

Few of them have touched the road yet – however, plenty of details about the vehicles have been released by their makers.

These bakkies include the Bollinger B2, Ford F-150 Lightning, GMC Hummer EV Pick Up, Nikola Badger, Rivian R1T, and Tesla Cybertruck.

Depending on the model, these bakkies can feature up to four electric motors, allowing supercar-like acceleration figures, and provide class-leading utilitarian abilities.

New and exciting features are also set to be available, with the GMC Hummer EV capable of “crab walking”.

This see it sharply angle all four wheels in the same direction in order to drive sideways.

Similarly, the Rivian R1T’s body features a pass-through storage area between the load box and cabin, as well as a factory-fitted air compressor for emergencies.

While the electric bakkies listed above are currently the closest to being mass-produced, a Chevrolet Silverado and Lordstown Endurance are also expected to join the segment in 2022.
