Hyundai launched its Grand Creta in South Africa towards the end of March, which the company said is in a segment of its own.
This is because the Grand Creta is based on a five-seater crossover – with almost identical width and height – but has seven seats and measures as long as most mid-size SUVs – 4,500mm.
It’s also slightly more expensive than your average crossover, with a starting price of R449,900, but generally less expensive than larger SUVs with fewer seats, such as Hyundai’s new Tucson which starts at R519,900.
The Grand Creta therefore aims to provide its buyers with the complete package by striking a balance between the hot crossover and SUV segments.
