Petrol consumption of every Bugatti on the market right now

Bugatti has always been known for their huge 8.0-litre, W16, quad-turbocharged engines allowing the stunning supercars to achieve mind-boggling feats such as sprinting from 0-100km/h in 2.3 seconds while weighing 2.0 tonnes.

At the same time, these cars are also known to clear their petrol tanks in as little as 9 minutes when running at full bore.

Bugatti has now made official the fuel consumption of its beautiful vehicles and they are staggering when compared to what is traditionally thought of as “heavy on petrol.”

Specifications

As every new Bugatti that came out of the factory since the Chiron was first introduced in 2016 is based on this model, they are all driven by the same powertrain but tuned to fit each derivative’s specific characteristics.

The underlying 8.0-litre unit is essentially two narrow-angle V8 engines merged together and enhanced with four turbochargers featuring in-house two-stage technologies, cooled by a mixture of water and air.

A seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission directs power to all four corners via a permanent all-wheel-drive system with front and rear differentials, and up to five drive modes – lift, EB, autobahn, handling, and top speed – are built in to suit a range of driving scenarios.

This sees maximum speeds for the line-up of Molsheim supercars range between 350km/h-440km/h, although a few of these figures have been “limited for road use,” said the manufacturer.

Purist models like the Chiron Super Sport 300+ are also capable of smashing this 400km/h milestone in as little as 28.6 seconds, but it then needs half a kilometre – 520 metres to be exact – to come to a standstill again with the help of 400mm calipers and an active airbrake.

Each Bugatti is also fitted with a substantial 100-litre fuel tank, which at today’s Petrol 95 prices will cost about R2,417 to fill up.

Consumptions

Although they all sit on the same foundation, the range of Bugattis is unique and therefore returns slightly differing consumptions and power levels.
