Crossovers you can buy for the same price as the new Hyundai Creta

Hyundai’s latest car, the Creta, is now on sale in South Africa, marking a new entry in the mid-range crossover market.

Prices for the mini-SUV start at R409,900 for the entry-level Premium, before capping out at R469,900 for the range-topping Executive.

For this asking price, buyers can expect a 1.5-litre engine delivering 84kW and 144Nm to the front wheels while averaging 6.5l/100km on a combined consumption cycle.

A choice of either a six-speed manual gearbox or an intelligent variable transmission (IVT) is also offered on the Premium, though the Executive is only available with an IVT.

In the features arena, standard offerings on the Creta consist of a multifunction steering wheel, automatic headlights, automatic air conditioning, keyless entry, cruise control, two front airbags, rear-facing parking sensors, and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Furthermore, the crossover is fitted with a central infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, which also enables the use of a rear-view camera.

Those who opt for the more expensive Executive can additionally look forward to artificial leather upholstery, extra airbags, a wireless phone charging dock, and LED daytime-running lights.
