Luxury sedans selling for the same price as the new BMW 7 Series

BMW has announced the pricing of its new 7 Series which is scheduled to go on sale around the world in the fourth quarter of this year.

The South African starting price for the ultra-luxurious line-up of sedans comes in at R2,160,00.

This gets you the “entry-level” BMW 740i, which is powered by a not-that-entry-level 3.0-litre turbo-petrol engine making use of BMW’s mild-hybrid technology.

This powertrain is capable of delivering 280kW and 540Nm, resulting in a 0-100km/h time of 5.4 seconds while top speed is limited to 250km/h.

Visually, the new 7 Series sports the same controversial kidney grille design found on BMW’s other recent works, and it’s adorned by 19-inch alloy wheels and dynamic LED headlights lined with Swarovski crystals.

The interior will see its own luxury finishes including a leather-like Veganza upholstery, heated seats, four-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a 14.9-inch infotainment display, and a Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system with speakers built into the headrests.

Additionally, buyers will be able to install a 31.3-inch TV screen with an 8K resolution for the rear passengers to enjoy.

It is also possible to upgrade to the M Sport Package Pro, which will add a host of sporty visuals and another R115,000 to the price of the car.
