R300,000 crossovers taking on the updated Chery Tiggo 4 Pro

Earlier in September, Chery updated its Tiggo 4 Pro crossover specifically for the South African market based on feedback from local customers.

This also means the crossover now has a new starting price of R299,900 – R30,000 more than when it went on sale in November 2021.

The update brings a host of amenities to the entry-level Tiggos, including the standard fitment of artificial leather upholstery, a multi-adjustable driver’s seat, adjustable rear headrests, voice command, a digital tyre-pressure monitor, a seatbelt reminder for the front passenger seat, and six airbags instead of two.

Also included in each specification are keyless entry and start, rear parking sensors, hill start and downhill assist, automatic headlights with LED daytime running lights, a 3.5-inch multi-information driver’s screen, and a 10.25-inch infotainment system with smartphone mirroring.

Under the bonnet of the R300,000 Chery is a 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine putting out 83kW and 138Nm.

In this five-speed manual guise, the crossover manages an average fuel consumption of 7.0l/100km and a top speed of 180km/h.

The Chery also boasts an industry-leading after-sales agreement comprising a 5-year/150,000km general warranty, a 10-year/1-million kilometre engine warranty, and a 5-year/60,000km service plan.
