Most fuel-efficient car from every brand in South Africa

Petrol prices have been the source of constant headlines in South Africa this past year, soaring way past the R20-per-litre mark to reach a new record high of R26.74 in July.

While prices have thankfully come down since then, the average motorist is still paying a staggering R22.87 for petrol and R25.75 for diesel in November 2022.

There are currently several factors affecting the availability of fuel, ranging from the war in Ukraine and Europe’s energy crisis, to load-shedding and Eskom’s overreliance on diesel, and even South Africa’s own fuel production, which has dropped 80% in the last three years.

Given that these problems are likely to persist for the foreseeable future, it may now be more important than ever to find a car that can maximize the number of kilometres travelled for every litre of fuel spent.
