Formula 1 drivers and teams racing in 2023

The official roster of teams competing in the 2023 Formula 1 season has been revealed, with a host of driver changes and excited newcomers coming into the limelight.

The 2022 championship ended rather uneventfully with Red Bull dominating the leaderboard and 2021’s victor, Max Verstappen, being crowned the winner once more before the season even came to a close.

While the top three teams’ pairings, Red Bull, Mercedes, and Ferrari, remain unchanged, next year will see a few new drivers taking on the tarmac.

For McLaren, the superstar Lando Norris will be joined by the Australian rookie Oscar Piastri, following the farewell of Daniel Ricciardo who is now in the reserve seat for Red Bull.

At Haas, Mick Schumacher, son of famous Michael Schumacher, will be replaced by the “supersub” Nico Hulkenberg in 2023 who hasn’t held a permanent position as a team driver for the past three seasons.

Moreover, Fernando Alonso will be racing for team Aston Martin in 2023 following the emotional retirement of legendary Sebastian Vettel, with Alonso’s departure from Alpine leaving a spot open for Pierre Gasly.

AlphaTauri, Gasly’s team in 2022, was therefore left with an unoccupied seat for the upcoming season, and it gave this position to amateur Nyck de Vries, who previously played the role of  Mercedes reserve driver.

Finally, Williams let go of Nicholas Latifi and recruited another newcomer, Logan Sargeant, who got the nod of approval to step up to F1 in 2023 after putting on a stellar performance during the 2022 F2 championship.
