Best-selling bakkies in South Africa

November was another great month for bakkie sales, with the top 15 models selling a combined 10,470 units – roughly a fifth of all the cars sold in the country.

Once again, first place went to the Toyota Hilux, which saw an impressive 3,048 units finding new homes.

Second place was taken by none other than the Ford Ranger with 1,979 models sold – a notable feat in one of its last months on the market as the next-gen model is now being rolled out.

Third place, meanwhile, was earned by the Isuzu D-Max which had 1,578 units make their way off the showroom floor in November, while the last vehicle to crack the 1,000-unit sales mark was the affordable Nissan NP200, taking fourth place with 1,164 examples purchased.

The final entry to secure its place in the top five was Mahindra’s Pik Up, selling a total of 697 units.

Other models to make it into the top 10 include the Nissan Navara in sixth, the GWM P-Series and Steed in seventh and eighth place, respectively, the Toyota Land Cruiser in ninth, and the VW Amarok at number 10.

The Mitsubishi Triton, JAC T-Series, Mahindra Bolero, Peugeot Landtrek, and Mazda BT-50 then populate the remaining five spots in the top 15.
