Many motorists are struggling to find a gap to renew their car licence discs, instead, turning to one of the many companies who do it for them at a small fee.
While it can be a quick and relatively easy course of action, it can also come with its fair share of challenges if the company does not deliver on its promises.
This is where it helps to find out more about the experiences of past patrons, with an invaluable source of information being customer reviews.
One of the most prolific destinations for reviews in South Africa is Hellopeter, with thousands of consumers voicing their opinions on the platform every day.

How it works
The majority of the licence renewal companies on review require an individual to register an account on their platform with personal details such as an ID number and physical address.
Thereafter, they must connect their vehicles to their accounts by entering the particulars of one or multiple models.
These details can include:
- Make
- Model
- Year of registration
- Licence number
- Registration number
- Tare weight of vehicle
- Licence disc expiry date
The cost of the disc renewal is dependent on the tare/kerb weight and class of the vehicle and is typically added on top of the admin and delivery fee.
Following submission, the companies will complete the necessary paperwork and hand in the renewal application on the customer’s behalf.
Once the licence disc is renewed it can be delivered to their doorstep within 2-12 business days or a digital copy will be sent to their email address, depending on the service provider.
