Best-selling cars in South Africa

Standing on top as the best-selling vehicle in South Africa in February is the Toyota Hilux, with buyers taking a total of 3,335 models home during the month.

In second sits the next-generation Ford Ranger which also proved to be in high demand as it moved 1,806 vehicles, and closing out the top three is another bakkie, the new Isuzu D-Max which trailed the Ford by 59 units and raked in 1,747 sales.

The popularity of the body style can be seen further down the list, too, as three more bakkies made it into the top 20 in the form of the small Nissan NP200 in ninth, the rugged Mahindra Pik Up in twelfth, and the comfortable Nissan Navara in twentieth.

Hatchbacks were another frequently-tapped segment, as six vehicles that qualify to be in this category also achieved a spot in the best-sellers list. This includes the VW Polo Vivo in fifth, Suzuki Swift in sixth, Toyota Starlet in eighth, VW Polo in thirteenth, Hyundai Grand i10 in sixteenth, and Suzuki Baleno in nineteenth.

Crossovers then secured five openings, with fourth going to Toyota’s Corolla Cross, tenth to Chery’s Tiggo 4 Pro, eleventh to VW’s T-Cross, seventeenth to Haval’s Jolion, and eighteenth to Renault’s Kiger.

Surprisingly, MPVs occupied two places thanks to the popularity of the Toyota Hiace and Renault Triber, the latter of which shares the thirteenth spot with the beloved Polo, while the Toyota Corolla Quest is the sole sedan in the 20 best-performing cars for February.
