Suzuki South Africa raised the prices of most of its vehicles on 3 May, in line with the automaker’s quarterly review of input costs, except for the recently-released Eeco panel van and Grand Vitara, as well as the long-standing Vitara.
This includes a hike of R5,000 to the starting price of the sought-after Swift, a R7,000 increase to the price of its most affordable model, the S-Presso, and a R15,000 jump in price for the quirky Jimny 4×4.
The decision to raise the window stickers is affected by many factors, said the company, most importantly:
- Inflation
- Stock volumes
- Model lifecycle stage
- Increase in raw material costs
- Addition of new model features
- Rand value and currency exchange rates
- Model profitability margins and volume sales
- Market and model competitor price comparison
“It is important to note that during each pricing review, the above aspects are considered and each can have a different influence at different times,” said the popular manufacturer.
