Mitsubishi has revealed the pricing of the new Outlander – the flagship of its local catalogue.
The SUV is available in two specifications with prices starting at R729,995 for the GLS and R759,995 for the Aspire.
As the most expensive model Mitsubishi now sells in South Africa, the seven-seater offers a healthy helping of gadgets and features giving it its rightful place at the head of the family.
If you’re interested in getting into a new Outlander, this is what you can expect to get for your hard-earned money.
What you get
Both versions of the Outlander are driven by a 2.5-litre, naturally-aspirated, four-cylinder petrol powerplant with 125kW and 245Nm at its disposal.
This setup connects to a “Super-All Wheel Control” (S-AWC) four-wheel-drive system, netting an average fuel consumption return of 8.1l/100km thanks to an “eight-speed” CVT transmission.
The S-AWC system supplies optimal torque to the rear wheels and it also integrates with Active Yaw Control, which uses braking to distribute torque to the left and right for enhanced traction, stability, and control, according to the company.
Other off-roading credentials that the car has in its favour are a ground clearance of 210mm and a towing capacity of 1,600kg.
The boot can accommodate 163 litres with all three rows of seats up, too, which can be expanded to 478 litres when the rear bench is folded.
Looking at its exterior, the Outlander comes standard with light-sensing LED headlamps, daytime running lights, 20-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers, front and rear skid plates, silver roof rails, and headlight washers.
Inside, there’s a pair of heated front seats with electronic adjustability and lumbar support for the driver, a leather multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters, an electronic handbrake, three-zone climate control, and synthetic leather upholstery.
The dashboard features a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, and an 8-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, voice commands, and six speakers.
Additionally, both models are fitted with keyless entry and start, front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera.
The higher-spec Aspire will then throw in a larger 9-inch touchscreen, full-leather seats, a power sliding panoramic sunroof, reverse auto-tilt wing mirrors, and memory functions for the driver’s chair.
Each purchase of a new Outlander includes a 3-year/100,000km warranty, a 5-year/90,000km service plan, and 5-year/unlimited-kilometre roadside assistance.
