Furthermore, the seven-seater can tow 3,500kg, has a ground clearance of 226mm, and can wade through 800mm of water.
Equipment on the high-end SUV comprises adaptive LED headlights, daytime running lights, 20-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone climate control, a wireless phone charger, full leather upholstery, keyless entry and start, two 12-inch screens for the driver and infotainment, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, eight speakers, ambient cabin lighting, a 360-degree camera, an “E-Sport” gearshift, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, and a dual-panoramic moonroof.
Insurance costs
We used Hippo’s car insurance quote tool to find out what the monthly premiums on the new Everest Wildtrak would be:
The calculations were based on an individual living in a metropolitan area like Johannesburg with no claims history who would be able to store their car in a locked garage at night.
The site was able to provide nine quotes for the Everest, which were as follows:
Insurer | Monthly payments |
---|---|
Budget | R2,612.09 |
King Price | R2,738.45 |
Dial Direct | R2,760.97 |
Auto & General | R2,762.21 |
1st for Women | R2,787.79 |
Virseker | R2,889.03 |
Pineapple | R3,086.08 |
Iwyze | R3,130.07 |
Old Mutual | R3,167.04 |
Note that car insurance is heavily dependent on factors like your age, location, and claims history, meaning your premiums could be higher or lower than this depending on your circumstances and chosen excess.
Hippo also provided the excess for each insurer, which are as follows:
Insurer | Excess claim |
---|---|
Iwyze | R5,850 |
Old Mutual | R5,850 |
Pineapple | R5,850 |
King Price | R6,500 |
1st for Women | R16,200 |
Auto & General | R16,200 |
Dial Direct | R16,200 |
Virseker | R16,200 |
Budget | R16,400 |
An excess is the amount that you are required to pay as a client when you are involved in a car accident and make a claim to your insurer. The higher the excess you choose, the lower your monthly insurance payment generally is.
