Bakkies competing with the new GWM P-Series LTD

GWM recently introduced a new flagship model to its South African line-up in the form of the P-Series LTD with a starting price of R694,950.

The double cab comes with a 2.0-litre, turbo-diesel engine which generates 120kW and 400Nm and averages 9.4l/100km, linked to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and a new selectable all-wheel-drive system with front and rear differential locks.

It also has driving modes for Mud, Snow, and Sand, as well as off-road cruise control, hill-descent control, and Trail Turn Assist which can reduce its turning circle by three metres. Ground clearance is set at 232mm, and the rear tray can accommodate 650kg while the bakkie itself is capable of towing 1,200kg.

The special P-Series’ fitments continue with black 18-inch alloy wheels, all-terrain tyres, off-road front and rear bumpers, black roof rails, a specially-developed snorkel, a 12V accessory socket in the engine bay, and a front-mounted winch that can pull up to 4.2 tonnes.

This is in addition to automatic LED headlights, a leather multifunction steering wheel, keyless start, a wireless phone charger, electronically-adjustable and heated front seats, leather upholstery, six speakers, dual-zone climate control, a 7-inch digital driver display, and a 9-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Also included is a 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise control, rear parking sensors, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Each purchase comes with a 5-year/100,000km warranty and service plan, and 5-year/unlimited-kilometre roadside assistance.
