SUVs competing against the new Mazda CX-60

The Mazda CX-60 has finally gone on sale in South Africa, taking the top spot as the flagship of the company’s line-up.

The SUV is available in two specifications with prices ranging from R739,800 to R844,500.

It’s equipped with a 2.5-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which puts out a total of 141kW and 261Nm.

It can be had in rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive configurations, though in both cases, it will use an eight-speed automatic gearbox and return an average fuel consumption of between 7.3 and 7.7l/100km

Inside, you’ll find a spacious cabin with leather upholstery, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 12.0-inch digital instrument cluster, and a heads-up display (HUD).

The driver’s position is controlled by Mazda’s new Personalization System, which uses facial recognition to identify the occupant of the driver’s seat and adjusts the seat position, steering wheel, wing mirrors, and heads-up display (HUD) to fit their physique.

The CX-60 also boasts a 12-speaker Bose stereo with multiple sub-woofers and tweeters, as well as a new Master Sound Revive Noise Reduction technology to remove background noise from digital audio tracks.

Other features on the Japanese car include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, seven airbags, hill descent control, radar cruise control, a 360-degree camera, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic LED headlights, and 20-inch alloy wheels.
