The Toyota Hilux has kept its crown as South Africa’s best-selling vehicle for another month, selling 2,982 units in July.
While this is 805 units more than the runner-up, it is a noticeable dip compared to June when the bakkie moved 3,792 units.
Second place was taken by the VW Polo Vivo, jumping up two spots from last month with 2,177 units, with the Ford Ranger not far behind, taking the final podium spot with 2,089 units.
The Suzuki Swift was the second-most popular hatchback in South Africa and the fourth best-selling vehicle overall with 1,809 units.
Fifth place was taken by the fan-favourite Toyota Corolla Cross, though like many of the other Toyotas on the list, such as the Fortuner, Starlet, and Hiace, its sales were lower than last month with 1,801 units compared to June’s 2,115 units.
The Isuzu D-Max, Nissan NP200, and VW Polo were all top-sellers, too, findings their own spots in the top 10, and the top 20 list saw a few shakeups with the Toyota Corolla Quest, Kia Sonet, and Renault Kwid all dropping out in favour of the GWM P-Series, the Suzuki Ertiga, and the Hyundai i20.
All said and done, the top 20 vehicles accounted for 23,789 purchases in July, equal to 54% of the total 43,398 units sold.
