Toyota has launched its latest vehicle in South Africa in the form of the new Vitz X-Cite, a variation on its entry-level car, which retails from R189,900.
The Vitz is the most affordable Toyota currently on the market, having launched earlier this year following the discontinuation of the Agya.
Since its introduction, the Vitz has become one of the company’s most popular options, selling 467 units in August alone.
The expansion of the range therefore comes as little surprise, as the Japanese automaker attempts to broaden its appeal even further with a colourful new addition to its general audience.
This is what you can expect when purchasing the new Toyota Vitz X-Cite in South Africa.
What you get
The X-Cite is a nameplate that Toyota has used in the past to add a more exuberant take on some of its affordable models, such as the Aygo.
Therefore, the newcomer to the Vitz family is primarily one that is meant to be visually distinct, sporting a number of decals and colourful additions.
The primary effect is a series of orange highlights, which can be seen on either door, the rear spoiler, the side mirrors, and around the front fog lights. These orange accents are then paired with new black mouldings located around the side skirts and front and rear bumpers, as well as the wheel arches.
“X-Cite” decals have been added to the doors, too, and a similar treatment has been applied to the interior, as orange inserts are found around the gearstick base, the air vents, and the door panels.
Beyond these aesthetics, the hatchback has also received one notable feature in the form of a Bluetooth radio system with USB and aux ports – something that is a paid extra on the base Vitz.
Other than that, the X-Cite has the same features as the regular model, meaning it is equipped with 14-inch steel wheels, halogen headlights, a full-sized spare wheel, a multifunction steering wheel, fabric upholstery, manual air conditioning, two speakers, rear park distance control, ABS, and two front airbags.
Power is delivered via a 1.0-litre petrol plant with 49kW and 89Nm which, on the X-Cite, is exclusively mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, resulting in a fuel consumption of 4.4l/100km.
Each purchase comes with a 3-year/100,000km warranty and a 2-service/30,000km service plan.
