The insurance premiums you’ll pay on the new Suzuki Jimny 5-door

Aspiring outdoor adventurers looking to own the new Suzuki Jimny five-door will need to commit at least R1,800 per month on insurance payments, according to research done by TopAuto.
The larger Jimny has finally arrived in South Africa and is available in three specifications with prices ranging from R429,900 to R479,900.
It still uses a 1.5-litre petrol engine with 75kW and 130Nm that connects to an AllGrip all-wheel-drive system using either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic gearbox, with fuel consumption working out to 6.3l/100km and 6.8l/100km, respectively.
In addition to the size change, which has added two new doors and grown the boot from 85 litres to 211 litres, the SUV has gained new standard equipment including a 7.0-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a reverse camera, rear parking sensors, and a chrome grille.
This is on top of the three-door’s spec sheet which has 15-inch alloy wheels, a multifunction steering wheel, electric door mirrors, air conditioning, electric windows, two airbags, ABS, hill assist, and electronic stability control.
Getting the top-end GLX will then add automatic LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control, automatic climate control, a larger 9.0-inch screen, four more airbags, auto-folding side mirrors, and a leather steering wheel.
Each purchase comes with a 5-year/200,000km promotional warranty and a 4-year/60,000km service plan.
