As of December 2023, petrol 95 is sitting at an inland cost of R23.25, and diesel users aren’t terribly better off, with a litre of this fuel type now costing R21.99.

With fuel prices easily running into the thousands of rands per top-up, it’s important to consider whether your next car will be able to mitigate the damage to your wallet.
