2 new Ineos Grenadier SUVs launched in South Africa – Pricing

Ineos has officially launched two new models for the Grenadier in South Africa.

Earlier this year, the chemical company-turned-carmaker announced that it would produce a new commercial variant of the SUV in response to customer demand.

The Commercial models strip away the back seats in favour of a reinforced cargo bay, allowing users to carry significantly more equipment out into the unknown.

Most importantly, the Grenadier Commercial is accredited by the South African Revenue Service, meaning that business customers are able to reclaim the VAT on their purchase.

“Adding the Commercial variant to our line-up reinforces our commitment to South Africa,” said Tim Abbott, Global Sales and Regional Director Africa & Middle East.

“We’re broadening the vehicle’s appeal to a wider variety of situations and ensuring its fitness
for purpose on-road, off-road and the balance sheet.”

The Ineos Grenadier Commercial has a recommended retail price of R1,199,000 (excluding VAT).

Engines

The cargo variants are mechanically identical to their passenger counterparts, meaning it has access to two different 3.0-litre turbocharged engines.

The petrol version generates 210kW and 450Nm, and has an average fuel consumption of 13.0l/100km.

Alternatively, you can pick up the diesel model, which produces 183kW and 550Nm while boasting a better economy figure of 9.5l/100km.

Both options come with a 90-litre fuel tank, meaning it has a range of between 692km and 947km.

They also feature a four-wheel-drive system and an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Both versions can tow a trailer weighing up to 3,500kg.

Features

The Grenadier Commercial is categorized as a panel van, which is evident from the revamped interior.

The rear seats have been removed entirely, creating a load area measuring 1,512mm in length, 1,268mm in width, and 1,088mm in height.

Notably, there is 1,064mm of space between the wheel arches, meaning it’s wide enough to accommodate a standard Euro pallet.

The heavy-duty floor is entirely flat for easier loading, and there are drain valves that make it easy to remove water from the area after spraying it down.

At the front, there is a metal barrier dividing the seats from the cargo bay to protect the occupants from loose objects.

Everything else about the Grenadier is unchanged, meaning it still comes with all of the standard equipment found on the passenger models.

This includes LED headlights and daytime running lights, 17-inch steel rims with Bridgestone all-terrain tyres, a full-sized spare wheel, underbody protection, a protective skid plate for the fuel tank, two front and two rear towing eyes, roof rails, roof protection strips, and panels in place of the rear windows.

It also has an overhead switchboard for optional accessories, two USB ports, front and rear 12V sockets, a large centre console with a rotary dial, Recaro seats, automatic climate control, and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Pathfinder built-in navigation.

Furthermore, the SUV is fitted with assistance functions like hill-climb and descent control, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, ABS, tyre-pressure monitoring, cruise control, and trailer stability assist.
