New Kia Carnival in South Africa – Pricing revealed

The pricing for the facelifted Kia Carnival has been revealed ahead of its official launch in South Africa.

Our sources at Duoporta Vehicle Information Specialists alerted us to the fact that the new Carnival is now listed on the company’s website, coming in two specifications with prices starting at R1,049,995.

The Carnival is the latest product to be introduced by the South Korean automaker this year, joining the new Picanto, Seltos, and Sorento models.

What’s more, the company is gearing up to launch the new Tasman, which will be the first-ever Kia double-cab bakkie in South Africa.

Engine

Since it’s a facelift and not a new generation, the Carnival has held onto its 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel (CRDi) engine.

This gives the MPV access to 148kW and 400Nm, which is sent down to the front wheels.

It also has an eight-speed automatic gearbox, and achieves an average fuel consumption of 6.7l/100km.

Features

As you’d expect, the facelift has given the Carnival a rather substantial makeover, bringing it more in line with the design language seen on Kia’s other recent models.

The front end is completely different with a new studded grille flanked by vertical headlights.

The new grille is further accentuated by a set of slim daytime running lights that run parallel to the the headlamps before curving around to form horizontal strips that stretch towards the Kia badge on the end of the bonnet.

It also has a set of new alloy wheels, and the general proportions of the MPV are more muscular than the old version.

The back has received similar attention, with a more prominent rear bumper and a new set of T-shaped LED taillights.

As for their equipment sheets, the base EX comes standard with 18-inch alloy rims, automatic headlights, keyless entry and start, a leather multifunction steering wheel, artificial leather upholstery, an electric driver’s seat with lumbar support, climate control, a wireless charging pad, six speakers, manual sliding doors, cruise control, parking sensors, a rearview camera, a 4.2-inch instrument cluster, and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The range-topping SXL will then add a 12-speaker Bose stereo, an electric front passenger seat, electric sliding doors, a 12.3-inch digital driver display, a heads-up display, heated and ventilated front seats, an electric tailgate, and a dual sunroof.

It also has an expanded driver assistance suite with rain-sensing wipers, a surround-view camera system, rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot detection, and lane-keep assist.

Pricing

The South African pricing for the new Kia Carnival is as follows:

This includes a 5-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty and a 6-year/90,000km service plan.
