New Audi A5 in South Africa – Pricing revealed

The pricing for the next-generation Audi A5 has been uncovered ahead of its official launch in South Africa.

As a reminder, the new A5 Sedan will serve as a replacement for both the A4 Sedan and the A5 Sportback (hatchback), as part of Audi’s ongoing reshuffling of its lineup.

According to our sources at Duoporta Vehicle Information Specialists, the A5 will be sold in four specifications, with prices starting at R1,123,000.

This includes a new Black Edition trim level, which is something we’ve seen before with models like the A1 and Q3.

Engines

All four versions of the A5 are fitted with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, though the output changes depending on the wheel configuration.

The front-wheel-drive models produce 146kW and 340Nm, allowing them to sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 7.8 seconds.

They also achieve an average fuel consumption of 7.5l/100km.

The quattro all-wheel-drive variants, on the other hand, develop a sizeable 200kW and 400Nm, which cuts their acceleration time down to 5.9 seconds.

Naturally, these units have a slightly higher fuel stat of 8.1l/100km.

Regardless of the version you choose, the next-gen Audi handles gear changes with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Features

In South Africa, trim levels start with the S Line, which comes standard with 19-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights and daytime running lights, rain-sensing wipers, an electric tailgate, keyless entry and start, a leather multifunction steering wheel, three-zone climate control, ambient lighting, electric front seats, a wireless phone charger, eight speakers, and a “Virtual Cockpit” with a 11.9-inch digital driver display and a 14.9-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

It also features driving aids such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, tyre pressure monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera.

The Black Edition, as its name implies, primarily adds a host of new cosmetics, including 19-inch black alloy rims with red brake calipers, black side mirrors, black door handles, dark chrome tailpipes, privacy glass for the rear windows, and new anthracite grey logos.

Buyers can also customize their purchase with extras such as heated and ventilated front seats, a surround-view camera, blind spot detection, larger 20-inch alloys, a panoramic sunroof, a Bang & Olufsen 3D stereo, and a 10.9-inch front passenger screen on the dashboard.
