The pricing for the new MG ZS Pro has been uncovered ahead of its launch in South Africa.
The ZS has been around since the Chinese carmaker launched in South Africa at the start of this year, serving as the entry point to the brand until the MG3 hatchback was introduced earlier this month.
The Pro is actually the second-generation ZS; however, MG has elected to keep the old version while launching the new model with the “Pro” qualifier to ensure it still has an entry-level crossover for consumers.
The regular ZS starts at R289,900, while the new ZS Pro asks for a minimum of R397,600 – effectively splitting the difference between the ZS and the larger HS SUV.
Engine
The Pro is fitted with a turbocharged version of the 1.5-litre petrol engine found on the first-gen ZS.
This powertrain generates a total of 125kW and 275Nm, in comparison to the naturally aspirated units’ 84kW and 150Nm.
This is sent down to the front wheels via a CVT transmission, resulting in an average fuel consumption of 6.9l/100km.
Features

The ZS Pro is available in two trim levels – the Comfort and the Luxury.
The Comfort comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights and daytime running lights, LED taillamps, electric side mirrors, keyless entry and start, a multifunction steering wheel, a six-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, PVC upholstery, automatic air conditioning, six speakers, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The crossover also features assistance items such as cruise control, electronic stability control, traction control, hill assist, tyre pressure monitoring, rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera.
Upgrading to the Luxury will then add larger 18-inch alloys, rain-sensing wipers, a leather steering wheel, a bigger 12.3-inch touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, and an electronically adjustable driver’s seat.
It also expands the list of driving aids with adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, forward collision warning, traffic jam assist, blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, lane change assist, and a 360-degree camera.
