More affordable GWM P300 bakkie launched in South Africa – Pricing and features

GWM has added a more affordable option to the P300 bakkie series in South Africa.

The new trim level, the SX, is meant to complement the existing range of higher-spec units like the LS, LT, and LTD.

It is primarily aimed at the commercial vehicle sector and serves as a replacement for the previous P-Series SX models.

The P300 SX is available in six specifications, including single cab and double cab body styles, and prices start at R414,950 – R114,950 less than the previous base model, the LS.

Performance

The new models are fitted with a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that develops 120kW and 400Nm.

This can be paired with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Similarly, the bakkie is available with either a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) or four-wheel-drive (4WD) configuration.

Fuel consumption ranges from 7.2l/100km for the RWD manual model, all the way up to 9.1l/100km for the 4WD automatic.

The GWM also has a maximum towing capacity of 2,250kg and a load-carrying capacity of 1,150kg.

Features

Since the SX is primarily intended for commercial fleets, the spec sheet is a lot more basic compared to the premium double cab units.

It comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, halogen headlights, LED daytime running lights, fog lamps, side steps, and a full-size steel spare wheel.

Other features include central locking, a multifunction steering wheel, cloth seats, a USB port, manual air conditioning, a large analogue instrument cluster, and a Bluetooth sound system.

It also has cruise control, traction control, dual front and side airbags, and rear parking sensors.
