New Foton Tunland V7 launched in South Africa – Pricing and features
Foton has officially launched the new Tunland V7 in South Africa.
Our sources at Duoporta Vehicle Information Specialists alerted us to the fact that the bakkie is now listed on the company’s website in two specifications.
The V7 is a new midsize double cab positioned as a premium alternative to the existing Tunland G7, with a slightly larger body, an expanded equipment sheet, and a mild hybrid powertrain.
Prices for the TunlandV7 start at R689,900, making it R105,000 more expensive than the range-topping G7 Limited.
Performance
The new V7 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel powertrain with 48V mild hybrid assistance for improved efficiency.
It generates a total of 120kW and 450Nm, and gear changes are handled by an eight-speed automatic shifter.
It is available in a single VLX trim level, with the option of either a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) or four-wheel-drive configuration (4WD).
The RWD units achieve an average fuel consumption of 9.0l/100km, while the 4WD model uses 10.8l/100km.
Notably, the V7 is also larger than the V7 in every dimension:
| Dimension | Foton Tunland G7 | Foton Tunland V7 |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 5,340mm | 5,617mm |
| Width | 1,940mm | 2,000mm |
| Height | 1,870mm | 1,910mm |
| Wheelbase | 3,110mm | 3,355mm |
| Ground clearance | 210mm | 240mm |
The new pickup can carry 1,000kg in the load bin, and tow up to 3,500kg (500kg more than the G7).
The 4×4 version also comes with a front and rear differential lock.
Features

The Tunland V7’s appearance is quite different to that of the G7, as the former opts for more imposing muscular design similar to other premium bakkies like the Ford Ranger or Kia Tasman.
The front is dominated by a large black grille flanked by quad LED headlights with LED daytime running light strips that curve up and around the headlamps.
It also has bold FOTON lettering on the front of the bonnet, an engine guard plate, roof rails, side steps, auto-folding side mirrors with integrated turn signals, LED taillights, a lockable tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, 18-inch alloys, and a full-size steel spare wheel.
Standard equipment on the bakkie include automatic headlights, keyless entry and start, a multifunction steering wheel, a 10-way electronically adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, a 4-way electric passenger seat, heated front seats, faux leather upholstery, ambient lighting, six speakers, dual-zone climate control, a wireless charger, USB ports, and a 12V and 220V socket.
It also has a digital driver display, and a 14.6-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay.
Furthermore, the Foton features a driver assistance suite that includes tyre pressure monitoring, driver attention monitoring, lane departure warning, pedestrian collision warning, blind spot detection, lane-change assist, a 360-degree camera, cruise control, and front and rear parking sensors.
